Mauro Cordella is a Policy Officer at the European Commission's Directorate-General for Environment (DG ENV), where he works on carbon and environmental footprints, ecodesign, and the regulatory framework for environmental claims («green claims»).

Holding a doctorate in chemical, environmental, and safety engineering, he has extensive experience in sustainability research. His work aims to promote innovation and strengthen the links between science and public policy, particularly in the areas of the circular economy, bioeconomy, and sustainable production and consumption patterns.

Within the European Commission, he contributed to the development of European ecodesign criteria and the Ecolabel for various product categories. He is also the author of numerous publications on the assessment of environmental impacts, circularity, the intrinsic safety of chemical substances, and the sustainability of production and consumption systems.

Round table: Well-being and social perception through the lens of life cycle management

Sara Russo Garrido is Executive Director of CIRAIG – International Reference Centre for Life Cycle Assessment and Sustainable Transition – and an Associate Professor at the Institute of Environmental Sciences at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). CIRAIG is a university research center internationally recognized for its expertise in life cycle assessment and the development of sustainability metrics.

Over the past decade, Ms. Russo Garrido has conducted and led numerous research projects on the Social Lifecycle Assessment (S-LCA) of products and services, as well as on the integration of social issues into corporate sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategies, for both the public and private sectors. She is an editor for the’International Journal of Life Cycle Assessment (IJLCA), a member of the Social LC Alliance, and co-chaired the working group responsible for revising Guidelines on ASCV from the Life Cycle Initiative of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
